Quick Reference Guide

Email Settings

In most cases, mail servers are mail.yourdomain.com. For example, your mail server would be mail.example.org if your domain was example.org.

If you have difficulty sending or replying to email, please verify that you are using authentication for the outgoing email server, and that Secure Password Authentication is disabled.

Anti-Spam System

AG uses an award-winning anti-spam system that performs over 1000 tests on every email, and then assigns a "spam score", whereby more spam-like messages receive higher scores. Messages that receive a score above a certain threshold will be tagged as spam, and the subject will be rewritten to reflect the score. For example, the subject for a spam email with the subject "Get Your Diploma For Free", would be rewritten to "****SPAM(34)**** Get Your Diploma For Free". To take advantage of our anti-spam system, create a filter to move mail with "****SPAM" in the subject to the folder of your choice.

Automated Systems

You can check settings, change your password, and configure your email account to automatically reply to incoming emails (aka vacation messages, or auto-replies) right from the device where you check your email. There is no need to login to a web-based portal for email account administration. We have simplified the process. Automated systems use special triggers that are cAsE sEnSiTiVe, and will not work with Microsoft Exchange Server or similar systems that intercept mail before it reaches our mail system.

Auto-Reply Service

To start the auto-reply service, you must send a special email from yourself to yourself, and the body of this email will become your auto-reply that others will see when they email you. Specifically, you must send an email from your email address to your email address with "AUTOREPLY START" in the subject of the email. Please note that this auto-reply trigger is cAsE sEnSiTiVe. The auto-reply will run until you instruct it to do otherwise.

To stop the auto-reply service, send an email from your email address to your email address with "AUTOREPLY STOP" in the subject of the email. Please note that this auto-reply trigger also is cAsE sEnSiTiVe!

When an auto-reply change has occurred, an email is sent to your email address to confirm the change. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 5 minutes, there has not been a change.

Changing Passwords

To change your password, you must send a special email from yourself to yourself. Specifically, you must send an email from your email address to your email address with "PASSWORD CHANGE yourNewPassword" (where yourNewPassword is your new password) in the subject of the email. Please note that this trigger is also cAsE sEnSiTiVe! For example, if you wanted your new password to be "IsaacNewton561960", the subject of your email must be "PASSWORD CHANGE IsaacNewton561960" For security reasons, please make up your own password.

Check Inbox Size

To check your inbox size, you must send a special email from yourself to yourself with "INBOX SIZE" in the subject of the email. If you have sent the email correctly, you will receive another email that contains the size of your inbox. Please note that this auto-reply trigger is cAsE sEnSiTiVe.
